Privacy Policies
Welcome to the “fine print” portion of our programming. Use of this website implies your understanding of and agreement with these policies.
Your privacy is my priority. I’m not a lawyer so I’m not going to talk like one.
The tl;dr version of what’s below is that:
- This site uses cookies. If you don’t like carrying cookies around, delete them.
- In the course of using this site, you may choose to provide your name, email address, and/or other information.
I will not sell, barter, give away, or otherwise share any of your information. If you give me info, I will use it only for the stated purpose. If you sign up to receive emails from me, you can unsubscribe at any time. At your request, I will delete any information I have about you. You can request to be deleted from any 3rd party services by directly contacting them.
I reserve the right to make changes to these policies at any time.
Who the Heck Are We?
“We” in this case is me, Elizabeth Starr Harden. And, yes, it’s literally just me. I’m the front-end of the business: coach, author, and video personality. I’m also the clerical staff: scheduling, email support, social media, and research. And I wear the technical hat as well: website development and maintenance, video editing, graphics and images, and analytics.
I do all of the above as the sole employee of Elizabeth Starr Harden, LLC.

Who’s Tracking You
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics [GA]. Read Google’s privacy policy to understand what they do with the information they gather and retain about you. GA uses cookies to track your movement including how you found my site (link, search, etc), which pages you visit while here, and which page you’re on when you leave this site to go somewhere else. GA also provides some insight into the demographics of site visitors.
When I avail myself of GA data, I do so mostly out of idle curiosity. But also to try to build a better website and better serve my audience. I do not sell, trade, give away, or otherwise share the data Google collects and provides to me.
Consent Management
Yes, irony of all ironies, the plugins I’ve experimented with to maintain compliance with CCPA & GDPR (among others) consent management more than quadrupled the number of cookies my site uses. In other words, your consent to accept my site’s cookies (implied, by scrolling and ignoring consent or explicitly, by click on the “I accept” link) left several cookies in your browser to remember that you’ve visited here and have accepted my cookie/privacy policy. Yeah, makes no sense to me either but <shrug>.
Embedded Content
This site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you visited the other website.
Said websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
External Links
I frequently link to other websites. They probably all use tracking cookies too. I am not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or any other behavior of any site other than my own.
Referrals
I have chosen to enter into referral agreements with select vendors. By their very nature, referral links contains information that lets them (3rd party vendor) know I sent you. I am not responsible for the privacy policies or behavior of sites other than my own.
You can read my thoughts on referral relationships, if you’re interested. I try to keep a comprehensive list of current referral relationships on my Things I Love page.
What Personal Data We Collect, Why We Collect It, and What We Do With It
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. If you’re using Gravatar, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment once your comment is approved.
Contact Form
This site utilizes the Contact Form 7 plugin in combination with Flamingo and a reCAPTCHA plugin. The data you enter in the contact form is emailed to me and some of that information is stored in a database on my server account (including but not limited to your name and email address).
Marketing Email List / Newsletter
We use ConvertKit to distribute newsletters and other broadcast email communications. This service is opt-in; no one is signed up automatically without their knowledge and every subscription requires a secondary confirmation action to confirm their subscription request. Each email includes an unsubscribe link in the footer.
Testimonials
We collect certain pieces of information about you when you fill out a testimonial form. This includes, potentially, your full name, e-mail address, photo, company name, and website.
By agreeing to these terms, you also allow us to:
- Send a confirmation e-mail, to let you know your testimonial was received and approved;
- Publish, electronically or in print, any of the information you submit using the testimonial submission form.
Website, Web Hosting, & Database Storage
We use a self-hosted WordPress installation to publish this site. WordPress does not track or otherwise gather data about my website visitors or website users. My host server, SiteGround, collects data about me and my website but has no access to data I collect or information you provide.
